Puhlmannscher Hof, Kastanienallee
The central idea behind our concept of the urban development is to create a small public park, a ‘pocket park’, with the aim of further evolving its original use as a ‘people’s garden’, Puhlmannscher Hof. Similar to the ‘pocket park’ in New York City, which we chose as a reference, it is a small green oasis, that invites visitors to stay and relax. Behind the park lies a second, more intimate space in the form of an inner courtyard. This courtyard has a spacious, two-storey gate connecting it to the first courtyard.
An important factor in the distribution of the building mass is the orientation of the building elements in relation to the sun. The urban design concept is characterised by the fact that both the buildings and the open spaces enter into an exciting dialogue with the existing structures.
The future development will offer space for offices, apartments and commercial space for small businesses such as shops and stores, as well as various areas for services and restaurants.
