Polizeiabschnitt 44

New construction of Police Headquarters 4, Section 44, concept design in Berlin Tempelhof

The new building is intended to serve as an urban development catalyst for the qualitative upgrading of the ‘Neue Mitte Tempelhof’ quarter, while meeting both the functional and design requirements of a modern public building.
The new police station building on Götzstraße will create a new urban anchor point within the ‘Neue Mitte Tempelhof’ development area.

The building will be positioned in such a way that it forms a clear spatial boundary along Götzstraße and at the same time creates a distinctive address. The clearly accentuated recess at the entrance area will serve as a striking urban accent and is deliberately oriented towards Tempelhofer Damm. This
creates a public reference that emphasises the accessibility, visibility and integration of the building into the neighbourhood.

A delicate rhythm of pillars and beams made of light-coloured wooden profiles structures the appearance of the layered façade. The balustrade panels are made of the same material. Inside, subtle colour gradations differentiate the building's structure in line with the distribution of the various operating units. Individual colour accents brighten up the atmosphere in the building and make it easier for visitors and employees to find their way around.
