Bezirkskrankenhaus Lohr am Main
General expansion plan, new gerontopsychiatry centre, extension of House 40
General development plan, urban development master plan
The concentration of outpatient and clinical functions creates a clinic with short distances. A new central reception area, a new centre for geriatric psychiatry and a new patient boulevard are being built in a very small space on Sonnenberg. At the same time, the historic buildings on the campus can continue to be used intensively for clinical functions and central services. The new entrance on the patient boulevard provides an open, contemporary and easily recognisable address for the district hospital, helping to overcome the initial reluctance of patients and visitors. The close integration of outpatient and inpatient facilities, as well as the shortest possible distances, make the Lohr district hospital fit for the future billing system in psychiatry.
the gerontopsychiatric centre
Two interlocking building-elements form the new Gerontopsychiatric Centre of the Lohr District Hospital. Both buildings enclose a protected inner courtyard, which provides plenty of daylight for the four wards, each with 25 patients on the first and second floor, and also offers protected outdoor areas for patients. The offset structures form a front garden with a spacious entrance area to the patient boulevard to the south and a sheltered therapy garden for all nursing wards of the district hospital.
